According to Blikk, a Hungarian tabloid, the Hungarian Forrest Gump, László Piringer, moved to the United States in 2005, where he tried to earn a living as a musician. Running became part of his life in 2018 after a lifestyle change. Since then, he has raised public attention by completing multiple extreme challenges. In 2021, he ran from Los Angeles to New York in just 78 days. In 2022, he ran for 24 hours on Margaret Island. In 2023, he completed 120 semi-marathons on a treadmill, setting a new Guinness World Record.
In his most recent charity action, he completed 10 marathons in just 5 days under the scorching Florida sun. That is 422 kilometres, 84 kilometres every day. “It was not easy, and I went through many ups and downs. The track I ran on was incredibly hot—30 degrees Celsius, 80% humidity, and not a shred of shade”, he told Blikk. During the five days, he burned approximately 35 thousand calories, while the average for an ordinary man is 2,000.

Charity runs
Therefore, he had to eat a lot. “These five days were practically all about running, sleeping, and eating. I had to consume an incredible amount of pasta and pizza. For a while now, I am sure I will not even want to look at those foods again,” the Hungarian Forrest Gump added. He was sponsored by several American companies that provided sports drinks and energy-rich foods.

He also did all of this running for charity, collecting donations for the Voice of Children’s Foundation, a local organisation helping abused minors. He collected a bit more than USD 574, but the donation link will remain active for months, so he hopes the sum will increase significantly.
He would also like to set a good example for his son, 2.5-year-old Ezra. He said he was happy about the success and hoped he could motivate his son and others to live healthier, more active lives and dare to dream big, embarking on bold ventures. László said he would publish two running books written for children.
