Hungary pushes for migration-free aid partnership with Africa, rejects ‘woke’ donditions

According to the Hungarian government, a partnership “based on mutual respect and shared interest” should be built with Africa, the state secretary in charge of assistance to persecuted Christian communities said in Brussels on Monday.

Tristan Azbej said such a partnership would contribute to easing the suffering of people living in crisis areas and help them prosper in their homeland rather than emigrate.

Speaking ahead of a conference of development ministers from the EU, Azbej said the Hungarian government’s development policies were based on local partnerships and aimed “against migration as a solution to humanitarian crises”.

The Hungarian government rejects “a western approach, often described as liberal, which arrogantly and condescendingly demands taking over the woke ideology in return for help,” the state secretary said. “We promote the principle of aid provided locally and that of preventing migration in a humane way,” he said.
