Jobseeker numbers at low point in Hungary, government says its measures are effective

The number of jobseekers in Hungary stood at 228,254 in April, down by more than 2,000 from the same month a year earlier, the state secretary for employment policy said on Monday, citing data from the National Employment Service (NFSZ).
The number of jobseekers is at a low point, and the government’s employment policy measures are effective and efficient, Sándor Czomba said. The April figure was the lowest for the month in more than three decades, he said. Close to 39,000 eligibles have found work as a result of recently launched European Union-funded government placement programmes, he added.
