Hungary’s newest luxury hotel will open in April, next to a countryside international airport

Despite the economic difficulties, tourism is booming in Hungary, and one of the best examples is the opening of a new luxury hotel near Pécs in April.
According to the local newspaper, bama.hu, the “wellness hotel adapted to the valley” will be called Essence-Natur Hotel and open before the Easter rush. On 11 April, Baranya’s first five-star hotel will open its doors to guests in Pogány, which is both close to Pécs and home to the Pogány-Pécs International Airport. The Baranya county town is about 230 kilometres from Budapest, 2 hours by car.
The hotel was originally due to open in 2022, but the contractor went bankrupt. However, the aim has not changed: They want to increase the region’s attractiveness with a hotel that offers both a luxury environment and a close-to-nature experience. The Italian interior design firm Natuzzi designed the hotel, and sustainability and the use of natural materials were important aspects.
The new Baranya hotel will be of the highest standard, with 100 rooms and a concept that includes different wellness areas for families and couples. The 1,000 sqm family spa with baby and children’s pools, a whirlpool, and an outdoor pool will provide relaxation, while adults will enjoy the 500 sqm adult spa on the hotel’s rooftop with outdoor pools, saunas, and premium services. The gastronomic offerings are reminiscent of premium Austrian hotels.
Guests can also enjoy special entertainment facilities such as a bowling alley, games room, private cinema room, chocolate-making workshop, games console room, wine tasting room, and fitness room. Nearby is the tourist-friendly Pécs and one of the most renowned wine regions Villány.
