Budapest mayors to help refugees of the Ukrainian war
The Budapest metropolitan council and districts with opposition Democratic Coalition (DK) mayors will make every effort to help refugees from Ukraine, Deputy Mayor Erzsébet Gy Németh said on Friday.
Németh told an online press conference that the Budapest council would help refugees by opening temporary shelters. If necessary, the council can accommodate 2,000 refugees and will also provide them with food, she added.
The mayors of the city’s 3rd, 7th, 11th, 15th and 18th districts also said they would help refugees.
Lajos Oláh, the parliamentary representative of the 6th and 7th districts, said donations for refugees were also being collected.
