Hungary, Bosnia and Herzegovina sign agreement on youth affairs

Katalin Novák, the Hungarian minister for family affairs, and Ankica Gudeljevic, the civilian affairs minister of Bosnia and Herzegovina, on Tuesday signed an agreement on cooperation in youth policy.

At a joint press conference after the event, Novák said the ministers had agreed to exchange experiences and promote cooperation between Hungarian and Bosnian youth.

They also discussed the demographic issues in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.

Hungary’s inoculation rate and the growing readiness of young people to raise children is “a subject of envy” in Bosnia and Herzegovina, where vaccinations are lagging and the emigration of young people is causing serious demographic issues, Novák said.

Gudeljevic said youth could become the strongest link between the two countries, and the agreement laid the groundwork for closer cooperation. She said she hoped Bosnia and Herzegovina would “catch up with Hungarian achievements in the future”.
