Pension premiums to be paid to 2.6 million Hungarian retirees

Some 2.6 million Hungarians receiving pension or other retirement benefits will be paid a pension premium this month, the state secretary for family and youth affairs told a press conference in Budapest on Monday.

In the central budget a total amount of 52 billion forints (EUR 155.6m) has been allocated for the payment, Katalin Novák said. The maximum of the individual premiums will be 22,000 forints (66 euros), she said, which will be allocated to retirees with a pension of 80,000 forints or above.

This is the third year the government is paying a pension premium allowed by the economy’s good performance, Novák added.

As we wrote today, more than 115,000 Hungarian pensioners have rejoined the workforce, up from around 75,000 at the end of last year, read more HERE.
