What’s happening? Viktor Orbán immediately dismisses two of his staff

According to a Hungarian Gazette published on Wednesday, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has dismissed two deputy state secretaries with immediate effect.

The latest Hungarian Gazette reveals that two deputy state secretaries have been dismissed with immediate effect. Under the decision, signed by Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, Zita Kovács, Deputy State Secretary for Land Affairs, will leave her post to take up another important post. In addition, Katalin Zandler, Deputy State Secretary for Economic Affairs at the Ministry of Construction, will also have to leave, Index reports.

“On the recommendation of the Minister of Construction and Transport, I have relieved Katalin Zandler, Deputy State Secretary of the Ministry of Construction and Transport, of this position with effect from 14 February 2024,” the Prime Minister’s decision states.

The decision means the departure of a deputy state secretary from the Ministry of Construction and Transport led by János Lázár, following a proposal by the minister.

Orbán: We’re working!

Prime Minister Viktor Orbán announced on Wednesday morning on Facebook that the Hungarian government had met. After the resignation of Katalin Novák on Saturday, followed by the resignation of former Justice Minister Judit Varga, there was relatively little reaction from the government.
