Two success of three in Europe for Hungarian women handball teams

Fehérvár won against Jolidon and proceeded to the semi finals, Győr managed to draw against Budućnost, but FTC could not overcome from 8 goals down, hatharom.com reports.

The weekend mean important matches for Hungarian women handball teams. First, FTC had to play its second match against Danish Team Viborg in the quarter finals. In Denmark, FTC lost by 8 goals, which is a serious disadvantage in handball, but it is not impossible to come back. Unfortunately, the Hungarian side managed to win only by five goals (31-26), so concerning the aggregate score, they were still three goals down. This meant an early farewell from the Cup Winner’s Cup for them. Nevertheless, coach Gábor Elek was satisfied with the team’s performance, the players all though that they had the chance.

The second match was in the EHF Cup, Fehérvári KC played at home against Jolidon from Cluj-Napoca after the away win (28-21). Fehérvár took its opponent easily again, winning by three goals to 24-21. Their next opponent will be the Danish Esbjerg.

Győr played the last match in the most prestigious cup, The Champions League. The opponent was ŽRK Budućnost from Podgorica, Montenegro. The match resulted ina 26-26 draw, which is a quite good final score in an away match against a team like Budućnost. Győr was mostly behind during the match, but they managed to equalize at the end. As the match was in the main round, the stake was the first position in the group, which is still not decided with the draw. However, Győr is initiating an investigation at the European Handball Association, because Budućnost player Milena Knežević headed down AnitaGörbicz inthe final moments of the match.
