Petrol prices to increase significantly again in Hungary

From today, the market price of diesel will increase by HUF 30 (EUR 0.074) gross. But those who can fill up are still in luck. According to experts, the fuel shortage is growing. Both petrol stations and motorists are finding the going tough.
According to holtankoljak.hu, from Wednesday onwards, diesel fuel in Hungary will be HUF 30 more expensive gross. Petrol will not increase. Thus, the average price of 95-litre petrol in Hungary is 686.9 HUF/litre (1.70 EUR/litre). While the average price for diesel is 823.9 HUF/litre (2.04 EUR/litre). The latter price almost broke a record high. The only time diesel cost more than this was in June this year.
Fuel is expensive, but anyone who can fill up is lucky. According to Gábor Egri, president of the Independent Petrol Stations Association, small petrol stations have not yet received any support from the government. In addition to the price freeze, the further increase in gas and electricity prices is also making the financial situation of small petrol stations more difficult, index.hu reports.
Eszter Bujdos, the managing director of holtankoljak.hu, said that demand for fuel will fall at the end of the summer. However, there is still a fuel shortage. “In the past few days, private petrol stations have been informed by Mol that they would further reduce the amount of fuel they could sell, from the previous 50 percent service to 35 percent for petrol,” Bujdos said.
