New, short-term Budapest transport tickets to come from March!

The municipal assembly is to decide on the issue next week. Ambrus Kiss, the deputy mayor of Budapest, told the press that people would be able to buy the new, short-term tickets from March.

According to telex.hu, the 0.5h ticket will cost HUF 530 (EUR 1.5), while the 1.5h ticket will cost HUF 750 (EUR 2.11). Furthermore, you will be able to buy these new ticket types with a smartphone with the help of an application. Moreover, Budapest will make it possible to buy all ticket types via phone in a matter of weeks.

Interestingly, BKK, the Budapest public transport company, asked their Facebook followers whether they would like tickets valid for 30, 60 or 90 minutes. Even though the 60-minute type won, they will not introduce it. They considered traffic data and not the poll results, the deputy mayor clarified.
