Hungary is one of the longest-standing countries in Europe and with those years come many historical buildings. Some of them are more famous than others, for example the Chain Bridge or Buda Castle, but there are some small castles and mansions around the country that await their new owner.
Ingatlan.com is one of the oldest Hungarian websites and they deemed it their duty to help people find the perfect home of their lives. In order to help customers with their decision, the website aims to gather all available offers from all real estate agencies in Hungary.
In a recent article, Ingatlan.com has compiled a list of fascinating Hungarian mansions and small castles that could be yours, so you can truly live like a king or queen, Hungarian style.

According to the real estate website, this mansion is a piece of living history. This classicist mansion was built around the early 19th century and has been renovated 22 years ago using contemporary postcard images.
The Mansion is located at the border of Pest and Nógrád counties in Vanyarc in Northern-Hungary, it has almost three hectares worth of land fully enclosed with fences and with its own forest, the website says. The description also highlights that it is bordering a hunting area.

According to the description, the history of the town of Hédervár is intertwined with the Héderváry, Viczay, Khuen-Héderváry families and counts, who have played an important role in the Hungarian history.
Located 50 kilometres from Pozsony and 100 kilometres from Bécs, the castle is easily accessible internationally due to the proximity of airports. This demesne, or majorság in Hungarian, must have been built at the beginning of the 18th century or even earlier.
Between the end of the 1970s and 1999, it was abandoned and neglected. Since then it has been partially reconstructed, but according to the description, there is still room for improvement. The land also houses a Hungarian shadoof and a horse stable.

Romantic castle near Pápa

According to Ingatlan.com, this castle was built in 1855 by one of the noble families of the Komárom vármegye (similar administrative unit to county). The listing says it has a large drawing room, two bedrooms, kitchen, dining room, bar, bathroom and restrooms as well as a beautifully adorned cigar room.
Ingatlan.com writes that it also has a card room, which was frequently visited by János Kádár, General Secretary of the Hungarian Socialist Worker’s Party between 1956 and 1988.
On top of that, the listing also highlights that the castle is surrounded by an almost 4-hectare park, while it also boasts another 5 hectares of garden and a horse stable that can accommodate up to six horses. The castle is located just a few kilometres away from Győr.
Wine lovers’ paradise

Located in Tarcal, this mansion is the best choice for people who love Hungarian wine. Tarcal is just in the neighbourhood of the famous Hungarian Tokaj region, and it is perfect for cultivating almost any type of local grapes.
Additionally, Tarcal is home to the mesmerizingly coloured quarry lake, as well as an 8.5-metre-tall statue of the blessing Jesus.
The listing says that this one-storey, fully renovated castle has an L-shaped veranda, as well as a large maturing cellar, which is 23 metres long and 5-6 metres wide. You can fit plenty of barrels and racks of bottles of fine wine in there. They also built a 109 m2 building capable of hosting wine tastings for 20 people.

Hunting castle of Esterházy

Ingatlan.com writes that this particular castle was built by one of the members of the famous Hungarian noble family, Prince Miklós Esterházy way back in 1770. Hence, this building is a true piece of Hungarian history.
This mesmerising castle is situated only about 40 kilometres from Siófok, close to Balaton in Tolna county’s Tamási. The close proximity makes the trip to the beautiful tourist destination an easy drive.
The listing highlights that the property is located just 100 metres away from the town’s famous thermal bath and there are several small lakes around the area ideal for fishing enthusiasts. They also added that there is a peaceful inner garden enclosed by trees. Built according to 18th-century architecture, most rooms open from one another. The castle also has a cellar and attics that can be converted into living areas.
