President Biden wept in the bar of a Hungarian bartender when he saw the photo of their sons

Joe Biden, President of the United States of America, met the 83-year-old Jenő Berta. The President’s son, Beau, served in Iraq with Berta’s son.

At the age of 18, Jenő Berta left Hungary, after the revolution. In the 1980s, he opened his Hungarian-style pub called Jeno’s Little Hungary. Residents of Davenport, Iowa, love Hungarian food. Goulash soup, stuffed cabbage, and pancakes are also on the menu.

Berta even volunteered for John F. Kennedy’s campaign.

Several members of the American Democratic Party’s campaign team are regular guests at Jeno’s Little Hungary. For this reason, it is no wonder that Biden, as a presidential candidate, organised a campaign event at Berta’s pub. When Jenő Berta found out that Biden was coming to him, the most important thing was to find out exactly when the presidential candidate would arrive so that he could mop up the floor again right before Biden arrived.

At the end of the campaign event, Biden and his staff retreated to the back room. Then, Berta took off a picture from the wall and walked over to the politician. The picture showed two soldiers serving in Iraq: the son of Jenő Berta and the son of Joe Biden, who died of a brain tumour 5 years earlier. According to reports, when Biden took the picture in his hands, the air froze.

“I pray every day that my son will be proud of me,”

said Biden. “Mr Vice President, you can be sure that this is the case: Beau told me,” Berta Jr. recalled his reply to blikk.hu. According to Berta’s recollection, there was a very unjust system in Hungary, and he fled to Austria and then to America in the hopes of a better life. The next time he visited home, he already had a house and a car in the USA, while his Hungarian acquaintances were riding the same bike.

According to hvg.hu, Berta’s son went to Iraq in 2009, where he met Beau Biden. Beau Biden prepared for a serious political career. He wanted to run for the position of governor of the state of Delaware in 2016 but did not live till the election. Jenő Berta Jr. was shocked when he heard about his friend’s death. Berta Jr. said Beau talked a lot about how much he loved his family and how proud he was of his father, who served as the Vice President of Obama. He will forever remember his father and Biden looking at the picture of him and his friend.

“Just look: here, we do not see the President of the United States but two fathers looking at a photo of their children,”

said Jenő Berta Jr.
