Mass demonstration against the lockdown on March 15? – VIDEO
György Gődény said so to hundreds of his followers on a rally in Budapest today. Interestingly, nobody wore a face mask at the protest. People said that they wanted their lives back. The police finally sent the coronavirus sceptic protesters and the organisers home.
According to Index.hu, the police prepared for the protest. As a result, many officers were waiting for the people near Heroes’ Square. Most of the protesters wore no masks, meaning that they broke one of the decrees the government introduced last November to contain the spread of the virus.
György Gődény, a coronavirus and lockdown sceptic pharmacist and bodybuilder, said that
he wrote a petition to the Prime Minister’s Office about the vaccine and the process of re-opening,
to which he expects an answer in eight days. Afterwards, he called on everybody to cooperate with the police.
“We are fed up with the games of the politicians. We will not let them lock us up,” he highlighted. The crowd responded, “let it be like it was before”.
According to Mr Gődény, the protest is not about politics. They only want back the life they were used to before the epidemic. Otherwise, he said he would call ten times as many people as were present at today’s event, and
he will do it on March 15.
Based on a statement published on police.hu, their officers started checking the documents of the partakers because they violated the relevant government decrees forbidding them to organise any gatherings during the epidemic. The officers warned even György Gődény himself for having no mask on his face and organising a gathering.
Police said later that some of the protesters left Heroes’ Square and went to the City Park of Budapest.
There they continued the demonstration
near Vajdahunyad Castle. According to Blikk, 100-150 people are present drinking mulled wine and having a picnic there.
Mr Gődény and his virus denier friends founded a new political party last November.
Many guess that he wants to take part in the 2022 parliamentary elections. Interestingly, he already did so in the 2018 general elections with another party. However, he could not reach the required one pc, so he would have had to pay back the more than EUR 400 thousand he received for the campaign. He has not done so to this day.
The party was formed in June, but the court registered it only at the beginning of November under the name ‘Normális Élet Pártja’ (Normal Life Party). The name is not surprising since Mr Gődény has many similar Facebook pages and groups. Interestingly, Gődény’s network is present not only in Hungary but also in some European countries.
