Coronavirus – Operative team: Epidemic slowed down

Compared to other countries in the region, Hungary has successfully managed to slow down the spread of the novel coronavirus, a leader of the central team coordinating efforts against the epidemic told an online press conference on Thursday.
Tibor Lakatos said that the positive trend was the result of government measures and people taking restrictions seriously.
He said that there are 60-70 percent fewer people in public spaces than usual.
For that matter, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán met a group of health experts in his office to discuss the worsening novel coronavirus situation in Hungary, on Thursday morning.
The panel included Béla Merkely, the rector of Budapest Semmelweis University, epidemiologist-mathematician Gergely Rost at Szeged University, Anikó Nagy, director general of Heim Pal children’s hospital, and Miklos Szocska, the head of Semmelweis University’s Health Manager training centre, Bertalan Havasi said.
The prime minister is meeting the broadest possible circle of experts to help the government in taking decisions on further protection measures in time, he said.
