Government to finance electric buses for Budapest

Budapest, December 15 (MTI) – The economy minister on Tuesday signed a financing agreement with Budapest’s public transport company BKV, under which 20 Hungarian-made electric midibuses and the necessary charger technology will be purchased.
Addressing the ceremony, Mihaly Varga hailed the beginning of a “new era” in the city’s transport, to benefit “the people of Budapest, the Hungarian industry, and bus making”.
Under the agreement, the government will provide a grant of 4 billion forints (EUR 12.6m) to purchase the buses. The new vehicles will be put into service before mid-May next year.
