Roche, Nestle consider further investments in Hungary

Budapest, December 11 (MTI) – Swiss pharmaceutical company Roche and food company Nestle are considering further investments in Hungary, foreign ministry state secretary Laszlo Szabo said after talks in Switzerland on Friday.
Roche is weighing to add about 100 people to its 500 employees working at its Budapest service centre after having extended the lease of the Budapest office, he said. Roche carries out clinical research in Hungarian hospitals and its trading division will soon introduce three new drugs.
An expansion of Nestle’s pet food plant at Buk in western Hungary could create more than 100 jobs, Szabo said, adding that the company is in talks with Hungary’s state investment agency HIPA on the matter. Nestle is present at four locations in Hungary and employs about 2,000 people here.
During his visit to Switzerland Szabo also met his counterpart Gabrielle Ineichen-Fleisch.
