Egyutt to look for new allies among civil organisations, says leader

Budapest, November 3 (MTI) – If opposition parties besides Egyutt do not like its moderate centrism, Egyutt will seek new allies among civil organisations, the party’s leader Viktor Szigetvari said on Tuesday.

Some in the opposition are “placing their men safely in government” ahead of the 2018 general election, Szigetvari said on Facebook, referring to colleagues of Istvan Hiller, a former Socialist culture minister, who now work for the heritage protection office.

The Egyutt leader criticised Democratic Coalition (DK) leader Ferenc Gyurcsany, who recently voiced support for the flat-rate tax.

Szigetvari also criticised the two bigger leftist opposition parties for doing everything to prevent a pre-election to select left-wing candidates.

A survey conducted by Nezopont in mid-October showed that Egyutt had 2 percent support among decided voters.
