DK says trends among opposition connected to migration reason for concern

Budapest, September 25 (MTI) – Trends among the democratic opposition parties in connection with the migrant crisis are causes for concern, opposition Democratic Coalition (DK) spokesman Zsolt Greczy said on Friday.

During Thursday’s conference on migration organised by the Liberal Party, the politicians of ruling Fidesz and the opposition Socialists, Jobbik and Liberals assessed the government’s migration policies differently, but they all welcomed Prime Minister Viktor Orban’s six proposals on handling migration, said Greczy.

He said concerns first arose when LMP proposed putting tracking devices on migrants and then continued when the Socialists failed to vote against the law that militarises border control.

It is “puzzling that parties defining themselves as part of the democratic opposition” attend a conference jointly with Fidesz and Jobbik, Greczy said. It is even more puzzling that representatives of the Socialist and the Liberals are supporting the Orban government’s failed migrant policies, he added.
