Hungarians want no “chaos” in wake of migration, says Orban

Budapest, September 14 (MTI) – The people of Hungary would not want to see their country changed in wake of the “global size migration”, Prime Minister Viktor Orban said on Monday.
Speaking at an oath taking ceremony of police officers in Budapest’s Heroes Square, Orban said that “Hungarians want to live in order, peace, and security; they want no chaos”. He added that order, peace, and security cannot be taken for granted; rather, efforts must be made to maintain those conditions.
Addressing the new officers, the prime minister called on them to protect “Europe, Hungary, and its borders”. He said they should be humane but “enforce Hungary’s laws without compromise”. The new officers will meet “disappointed people, anger, and violence” and they will need “not only their muscles but their hearts, too”, Orban said.
Hungary has the right to determine whom to allow to enter, and is obliged to ensure that all entrants abide by the country’s laws, Orban insisted.
Concerning the unprecedented influx of illegal immigrants, the prime minister said that “the world is out of hinges” and Hungary needs to react in a timely manner.
Orban noted that Hungary’s new legislation, taking effect on Tuesday, will make illegal entry a criminal activity, and perpetrators will be expelled from the country or imprisoned. People smugglers will face punishment “as serious as those duly deserve that make profits on others’ lives,” he added.
