Vargas Llosa receives ELTE honorary degree

Madrid (MTI) – Nobel laureate author Mario Vargas Llosa has been given an honorary doctorate of Budapest’s ELTE university.

A delegation from the university handed over the degree at Hungary’s embassy in Madrid on Tuesday.

Vargas Llosa’s works have been on ELTE’s curriculum since the 1960s; generations have read them and those graduates have become translators and researchers of his life achievement, Laszlo Borhy, dean of ELTE’s School of Arts, said in his laudation.
