Bokros Promotes Free Competition in Budapest Public Tenders

Budapest, October 8 (MTI) – Former finance minister and Budapest mayor candidate Lajos Bokros pledged to introduce a system of free competition at public tenders favourable to local businesses, at a press conference in Budapest.
Speaking to journalists on Wednesday, he said that it was not the state but businesses that invest the most and create the most jobs.
Should Bokros be elected on Sunday, he would create transparency in tendering, breaking with targeted calls tailored to favoured persons and raise the level of quality assurance.
Levente Papa, the economy expert of E-PM, said that the counter-selection is of macro-economic order.
Bokros is fielded by his own non-parliamentary party Modern Hungary Movement, and supported by opposition E-PM, the Democratic Coalition, and the Budapest chapter of the Socialist Party.
